Camera techniques

Wide shot- shot where the subject takes up the majority of the frame also shows subjects surroundings

Mid shot- shot taken from a medium distance

Medium close up- shot that shows the face and shoulders. It is halfway between a mid shot and a close up

Tracking shot- used to follow a subject

Over the shoulder shot- behind the shoulder of the person looking at the subject this indicates an individuals position

Tilt- Vertical camera movement when the camera points up or down from a still position gives the character more power

Pan- Swivelling camera movement done by moving the camera from left to right usually on a tripod in a fixed location

Point of view shot- shows a view from the subject’s perspective


Close up- certain part or feature takes up most of the scene shows detail and face expression
