FEEDBACK ON OUR MUSIC VIDEO

The feedback we received from our target audience about our music video was mainly positive, as our audience really liked our 1980's colour scheme and filter that we used as it made our music video more eye catching. Our audience also enjoyed the narrative of our music video as they thought it was creative and very original. They also commented on the DJ in our music video, stating how his star image of a synthetic pop/dance artist was clearly demonstrated through the close ups we used in our video.

However we also received a few criticisms of our music video. Some people thought that we had not included enough shots of our artist and that we had focused more on the narrative than the performance of our music video. Other members of our audience also thought that we could improve on the lighting in our music video as it was a bit too dark in some of the shots of the DJ. We were also told by several members of our audience that our shots were too repetitive and that it gave the impression that we had run out of footage and that we were dragging it out in order to increase the length of our music video.

Overall the feedback we received was very constructive and would therefore help us meet the expectations of our target audience in order to sell our product to them.

FACEBOOK PROFILE FOR OUR TARGET AUDIENCE

This is an example of a facebook profile for our target audience. This person is 18 meaning she is within the age range of our target audience of 15-24 year olds. Judging by her likes and facebook friends you can tell she is into the type of genre we are portraying as they are all pop artists. The artists are also similar to our artist we have created in our music video which highlights how she would be interested in our artist, Tyson. Lastly looking at the statuses on her wall she is into pop concerts and DJs which emphasises on her passion for the pop genre.

FEEDBACK OF OUR DIGIPAK

The feedback we decided from our digipak was mainly positive, a lot of people liked how simplistic and minimalistic it was, giving it a classy touch. They also liked the red and black together and understood this went with the feel of love, in addition to this they said the font we chose went really well with the theme as it was the same font you would see in a love letter. Some people liked how there was no pictures of Tyson at the front or back as they said this made him appear more mysterious and people will be interested in listening to music that isn't all about appearance as they thought this means they take more time on the music so it would be better quality.

However some people disagreed with this and thought there should be at least one photo of Tyson on the front or back cover because without this they don't really feel a connection to him as they don't know what he looks like and they feel as if looks are 50% as important as the music. They also said that because the music video is set in a club and at the gym, along with the song being upbeat they thought the digipak was going to be busy and draw loads of attention to it but they said it seems more chilled, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

The audience feedback also showed that there wasn't much link with our digipak and our website as one had a red and black theme while the other had very pale, muted colours and they didn't share any of the same font. The reason why did this was because his website will always be there no matter what new album he brings out but we chose those colours to suit his news songs and album so we wanted to brand the album separately from his whole image as a whole but still seamlessly link them with the use of reds and the theme of love throughout both of them

OUR DIGIPAK

AUDIENCE FEEDBACK ON OUR VIDEO SO FAR

We got some audience feedback of our first minute draft. Although we are aware that there are a number of changed that need to be made it’s still important to get feedback on how well we are progressing. The following things were pointed out
- It was felt that the balance of the narrative and performance element had shifted that was good despite this we had shifted to much in favour of the artist and now need to try and split it more evenly between performance and narrative.
- It’s felt that we had edited the DJ’s performance far more effectively and this was a major improvement. The use of effects and his performance had made our music video look more professional and definitely helped sell our artists image as a dance act.
- It was felt that some of the gym performance looked amatueur in comparison and therefore we needed to focus more on editing this to blend in the performance element. Perhaps the use of freeze frames was suggested so that when the DJ was firing the arrow it then froze on the person in the narrative. As this would be clear how they were being affected.
- It was suggested now that the colour corrections had made our narrative look a lot better and a lot more 80s which was in keeping of what we were after and more like GLOW which is what we are after. We had to show the audience the trailer from glow but once they saw the trailer they spotted the connection.

Our plans now
- We need to make sure that there is an even split between performance and narrative.
- We need to add a few more effects on the performance element and the narrative to mask the fact that we have decided to take out one of the narrative strands of the girls competing for his love. If we can do this then this will give our music video a visual flair that it’s currently lacking. We’ve been advised to use freeze frames and a bit more slow motion to emphasis how the girls are sexualising themselves to appeal to the guys.

TEST SHOTS FOR DIGIPAK

We took different shots of our star image for our digipak. The reason we took different shots was for a wider range of ideas as we took them at different angles to see which one would best fit our digipak. We also needed to make it attractive to our target audience and to match our pop genre by portraying his star image in a fashionable and attractive way.
Below are different images we took of our star Tyson Tyson
