Explanation of why young people like
horror films – the psychology of horror
Young people enjoy horror because they
like to be frightened and entertained. Dr Glenn walters speaks of the phycology
of horror, said that people watch horror for the tension, mystery and shock. Dr
Deirdre said that there are four main differences for why people like watching
horror; he said that each person usually has something about them that
encourages them to watch one. The first psychological theory being that
thriller watchers usually have higher where as independent watchers had a high
positive effect for overcoming fear.
Furthermore Marven Zukerman said that
people who scored high in sensation seeking scale often reported a greater
interest in exciting things like rollercoasters, bungee jumping and horror
films. The gender socialization theory by Zillman consider the snuggle theory
this found that boys enjoyed a horror film with their female companion who were
visibly scared where as girls found that they enjoyed the film more when there
boys were brave and could handle fear more.

Feedback of our idea
From this feedback I learnt that the viewers have a positive thought about our thriller because it is relevant to todays life as it involves diseases that can be caught easily making people more aware of ways to stay more clean and healthy. I also learnt that it will attract all ages which is good because it will give us a bigger audience.

Run Through
Analysis
of the effectiveness of our run through and what I have learnt so far
Our
run through is effective because it gives a clear outline of our story, because
it shows different people touching objects all around the school. This shows
how a virus is spreading all around the school and therefore highlights our
main points for our thriller. I have learnt from this that viruses spread via
anything even sharing a packet of crisps. By using a run through it makes our
filming easier as we know what scenes to film, although this was filmed with a
mobile phone I learnt ways to film a panning shot and close ups to highlight
the spread of the virus. Therefore when filming the real thing with high
technology cameras I will be able to use these skills again but in a more
professional way.
