CREATIVE WAYS TO IMPROVE CAMERA AND EDITING SKILLS

Creative ways to improve camera and editing skills

We have looked at how to make our work look more professional. For example using the no film school in order to help us improve our camera and editing skills for our music video through genre in order to heighten the selling of the artists image.

In stranger things they used different shots.

For example:

- a close up of the girl at the start with a black background.

-They also used the ‘tilt’ effect to give the opportunity of transitions between shots.

- Depth of field effect

- Cut away shots to cut away from the lyrics

- Pan/ whip pan

- Dutch tilt

After watching the video stranger things I learnt that using an effect to fade in and out from one scene to the next heightens the suspense drawing in the audience more. I also learnt using a panning shot from one character to another in slow motion creates more tension for the audience which is more interesting.

Furthermore I liked how in stranger things they used a 'tilt down' from one character and faded it into another scene as this caught my attention and made me more anxious so want to watch more. To emphasis on this the dark lighting used here also added to the tension of the scene.

From watching stranger things I learnt clever editing techniques to use in order to merge different shots I will film for an extra effect to keep the audience intrigued.
